TLDR Review: HP OMEN Gaming Laptop 16" (Ryzen 9, RTX 5060)
Verdict
The HP OMEN Gaming Laptop with Ryzen 9 and RTX 5060 is a powerhouse for gaming and creative work, delivering strong performance and a great display. However, the battery life seriously underwhelms for a gaming rig, and some quality control and usability quirks might annoy you if you expect flawless polish. If advanced security like facial recognition or flawless out-of-the-box reliability is on your checklist, you might want to look elsewhere or wait for firmware and software improvements. For comparable performance with possibly better polish, keep an eye on other newer gaming laptops from competitors or upcoming HP OMEN revisions.
- Top pro:
- Provides a significant performance boost for gaming and design programs like AutoCAD, with the AMD Ryzen 9-8940HX and Nvidia RTX 5060 combo impressing compared to older HP Intel-based laptops.
- Top con:
- Battery life is still a major pain point, draining about 1% every minute even with light use, making it almost necessary to stay plugged in.
